The Pastor's Word

September 1, 2026

Dear Mother Bethel Family,

Dear Beloved in Christ,

Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

As we move from the fullness of summer into the rhythm of a new season, I write with deep gratitude for the faithfulness, energy, and spirit of excellence that continue to define our beloved Mother Bethel Family and Friends.

This summer has reminded us once again that Mother Bethel is not only a historic church — we are a living, serving, witnessing congregation with a vital role in this present moment. As our city and nation prepare for and engage the opportunities surrounding America 250 and the FIFA World Cup, I want to applaud the many ways our Church Family and Friends has already shown up with enthusiasm, leadership, hospitality, and commitment.

Your involvement matters. Your presence matters. Whether through planning, volunteering, welcoming visitors, supporting community partnerships, or simply representing Mother Bethel with grace and joy, you have helped demonstrate the strength of our witness. We are blessed to stand in a sacred legacy while also stepping boldly into new opportunities for ministry, service, and community engagement.

Now, as summer gives way to fall, we find ourselves returning back to school, back to ministry, and back into the swing of things. This is a season of renewed focus. Families are adjusting to new routines, students and educators are beginning another academic year, ministries are preparing for fresh opportunities, and our congregation is called to finish this year strong.

As pastor, I am deeply encouraged by the leadership, dedication, and love I see throughout Mother Bethel. From our officers and ministry leaders to our volunteers, staff, youth, seniors, and every member who gives of themselves in seen and unseen ways — thank you. You are helping us write the next chapter of our church’s story with faith, courage, and purpose.

As we look ahead, I invite each of us to recommit ourselves to worship, service, stewardship, and fellowship. Let us continue to grow spiritually, strengthen our ministries, care for one another, and extend our reach into the community. The opportunities before us are great, and I believe God has positioned Mother Bethel for such a time as this.

May we enter this new season with grateful hearts, renewed energy, and holy expectation. Let us celebrate what God has done, embrace what God is doing, and prepare faithfully for what God will do next.

Together, let us finish strong.

In Christ’s love,

Rev. Cavaness
