Mother Bethel AME Church and The Colored Conventions Project are coming together to commemorate the origins of the Colored Conventions Movement, born within these very walls nearly two centuries ago. This three-day gathering will bring scholars, community members, educators, artists, and public historians together to explore Black freedom movements from the nineteenth century to today — connecting the organizing traditions of the past with the civic engagement and public memory work of the present.
